I cannot believe where this year has gone. I can’t even begin to fathom the kind of year we just had. I’ve learned so much, exceeded my expectations, and confronted some real hardcore emotions and insecurities as a business owner. The journey is still only in its infancy (even at 6 years in), but boy have we stashed some nuggets of observations and data for next year and beyond.
Y’all! We’re officially done our events for the year. We managed to squeeze in 32 markets whilst working a full time job and trying to manage my own wellness journey. Needless to say, my wellbeing took to the sidelines this year, so for next year, we’ll endeavor to make that a priority. But 32 markets folks! I know many more people who did more than that, but that was more than enough to do me in. If anyone sees my sanity hitch hiking somewhere, send her home please. LOL
In the meanwhile, we’ve made some massive progress with product validation and I’m always on the hunt for amazing new formulation ideas. Before we get to that though, I want to encourage you to subscribe to our newsletter. Not only do you get 20% off your first online order with us, but in 2023 we have major announcements and you’ll be the first to know as a subscriber.
In publishing, there is a term called “Pantsing” which means flying by the seat of your pants whilst writing. This year, Canela Bath & Body was very much pantsing and pivoting on the go. It wasn’t the most ideal as situations go, but sometimes you just have to go with the flow as the opportunities the universe presents to you.
I’ve met so many wonderful makers, women-owned businesses and community leaders, all who’ve inspired that we can be and do more. I have such a tremendous vision for this business and know the positive impact it can have, but Lord knows sometimes the roadblocks can be jerks. Not just for me, but for other entrepreneurs who find themselves in the same situation.
I am just so full of gratitude for all the support we’ve had this year from our community. I never imagined in a million years, I would feel so welcomed and connected to this network of customers and makers. It has been a privilege to serve you all and I pray for many more years of service.
Now for a bit of a business update! While we’re on the hunt to land some wholesale accounts, or retail locations to take us on, I’m working the following releases in the new year. Mind you this is just a tipple of what we’re looking to launch, but to give you some transparency and hopefully keep you interested:
- Expanding our body butter line to include additional fragrances.
- A high end skin care line that you will think I’m way too crazy to make. Fans of our Tone & Texture won’t want to miss out this.
- Soap: Cold processed, liquid and in-house made glycerin soaps.
Until the next post, which should be in a week or so, I wish you a wonderful week.
Much love and gratitude for all your support.
